Olympic swimming champion Britta Steffen is happy about the birth of her second son. She talks about “true happiness”.
Double Olympic champion Britta Steffen has become a mother for the second time. “I am very happy that I have two healthy children. That is the true happiness in life and more important than the Olympic victories,” the 40-year-old told the German Press Agency. After son Quentin (6), son Lennox was born in April. The family is doing well. “He is a baby like you see on TV – always very content and calm,” said Steffen, who lives in Berlin.
Two gold medals in Beijing
Steffen is one of the most successful German swimmers. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she won gold in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle. A year later, she became double world champion. Steffen was also the world record holder for many years. She ended her great career in 2013.
Steffen is enjoying the time off with her family. She doesn’t plan to resume her work as a career advisor at the Berlin Olympic Training Center until 2026. As part of her freelance work, she started giving lectures again just a few weeks after the birth.
