Sonya Kraus: Her hair has grown back

Two and a half years after her cancer diagnosis, Sonya Kraus has her blonde mane back. But she doesn’t want to give up wigs.

In spring 2022, presenter Sonya Kraus (51) made public that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2021. She then underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy. The result: Kraus suffered from hair loss and lost her famous blonde mane. The blonde then resorted to wearing a wig. Now, more than two and a half years after the original diagnosis and 18 months after completing chemotherapy, the presenter is not only cancer-free, her hair has also grown back.

Sonya Kraus alternates between natural hair and wig

Kraus showed off her new, shoulder-length hair. But she doesn’t want to do without wigs completely: The “Fiffis”, as Kraus called her wigs, “will stay in my life,” she said recently in an Instagram story. “They’re so uncomplicated and quick to put on when your own fluffy hair looks like Struwwelpeter.”

Sonya Kraus has shared her enthusiasm for wigs several times on Instagram in recent months. She has become a real collector. “Bad hair days? I don’t have them anymore. Photo-ready in five minutes.” She advised her followers: “Just be brave and don’t give up.”

But the presenter doesn’t want to miss her own hair anymore. “I loved my Fiffis too, but of course it’s practical when you can go out with your own hair again,” she explains in an interview with RTL.

The presenter now apparently alternates between natural hair and wigs. On her 51st birthday, which she celebrated on June 22nd, she once again wore a long-haired wig “to celebrate the day”.
