The British prince was honored for establishing a sports foundation to help wounded veterans.

Prince Harry received an award for his charitable work at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. The 39-year-old was honored at the awards ceremony of the US sports channel ESPN for founding the Invictus Games Foundation.

Harry received the “Pat Tillman Award for Service” on Thursday evening (local time) at a gala in Los Angeles in the presence of his wife Meghan Markle, named after a former NFL player who died in the Afghanistan war in 2004.

The Invictus Games Foundation is committed to helping physically and mentally wounded veterans and has been organizing a sporting competition similar to the Olympic Games since 2014. They will take place in Düsseldorf in 2023.
