Between 1997 and 2007, the Hürth native competed in 180 Formula 1 Grand Prix races – finishing on the top podium six times. In terms of sport, he always remained in the shadow of his much more successful brother Michael, who became Formula 1 world champion seven times. From October 2001 to February 2015, he was married to Cora Schumacher; the couple had a son, David Schumacher, who was born in 2001 and became a racing driver like his father.
