Shannen Doherty has died at the age of 53. Holly Marie Combs mourns the loss of her best friend and “sister”.
In the series “Charmed” they played siblings and in real life Shannen Doherty (1971-2024) was like a sister to Holly Marie Combs (50). The actress writes this in which she mourns her recently deceased colleague.
Combs explains that Doherty has been her “better half” for 31 years when she shares several photos of the two of them over the past few years. There is now a hollow space in her chest and she can hardly breathe: “A part of me is missing, even though I know exactly what you would say to me now. […] I know that your immortal spirit will live on in me and my children, whom you loved as your own.”
“You taught me the meaning of family”
Her sons would live with Doherty’s pride and truth and would stand up for what is right – regardless of the cost. Her fire would live on in her children. Doherty was a “fierce fighter” until the end and her “most ardent advocate. My loyal protector. My best friend.” The deceased had taught her “the meaning of family. You were and will always be my sister. I love you.”
In a second post, Combs writes: “The sky has gotten a little louder. You know where I’ll be waiting.”
Shannen Doherty died on July 13th at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer. A spokeswoman for the former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star confirmed this in a statement. The actress lost her battle with cancer on Saturday.
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was considered cured for a time, but in 2017 the cancer returned in stage four. In 2020, Doherty said her cancer was well advanced and considered incurable. In June 2023, she announced that she had metastases in her brain. At the end of 2023, she announced that her bones had also been affected by the cancer.
