After an X-report about shots fired at Donald Trump, the rbb ended its cooperation with Sebastian Hotz.
The rbb is parting ways with satirist and Fritz presenter Sebastian Hotz (28), better known on the internet as “El Hotzo”. Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg announced this on July 16. It is the rbb’s reaction to contributions by El Hotzo on the X platform following an attack on former US President Donald Trump (78). The statements are not compatible with the values of the state broadcasting corporation, the statement states.
“We are therefore ending our cooperation with immediate effect until further notice”
At a campaign event last weekend, Trump was shot and injured in the ear. A visitor to the event was killed. According to media reports, after the incident, Hotz wrote on X what former President Trump and the last bus had in common. The answer: “Unfortunately, I just missed it.” According to the report, he also declared shortly afterwards: “I think it’s absolutely fantastic when fascists die.” The whole thing was later removed. Hotz currently has around 700,000 followers on the platform.
A statement has now been made saying that the decision has been made to end the collaboration with Hotz for the radio station Fritz “until further notice”. The 28-year-old will no longer host the “Theoretisch cool” format. This is a reaction to the posts published by Hotz. “His statements there are not compatible with the values that the rbb stands for,” rbb program director Katrin Günther is quoted as saying. “We are therefore ending our collaboration with immediate effect until further notice and have informed the author accordingly.”
