People: What Sandra Hüller bought with her first film money

The first real paycheck is always something special. Actress Hüller knows exactly what she bought with her first film fee – after all, it’s still at home.

Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Case”) spent her first salary as an actress wisely. “I bought a sofa with my first film money. That was in 2004 and I still have it today,” said the 46-year-old to the German Press Agency in Berlin. “It’s a grey, narrow, very straight sofa. It still looks good,” said the internationally sought-after actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for best actress this year. “So that was quite an investment.” Hüller can be seen next Thursday (July 25) alongside actors Max Riemelt and Ronald Zehrfeld in the reunification comedy “Zwei zu Eins”.

Natja Brunckhorst’s film is set in Halberstadt in Saxony-Anhalt in 1990 and refers to a historical event: after the currency changeover, millions of worthless GDR banknotes were stored in a tunnel in Halberstadt. The treasure was walled in. Thieves then gained illegal access to the tunnel and stole banknotes.
