David Beckham is overjoyed that his Netflix documentary “Beckham” has been nominated for an Emmy Award in five categories.

David Beckham (49) has reacted delightedly to his Emmy nominations. The four-part Netflix documentary “Beckham”, which gives an insight into the lives of him, his wife Victoria Beckham (50) and their children, has been nominated in a total of five categories for the most important television award in the United States. “It is a great honor for me and the entire creative team of ‘Beckham’ to be honored by the TV Academy,” said the former footballer happily.

“Making this series has been a very personal journey, a love letter to football and my family. It has been overwhelming for me and Victoria that we have received such a warm and positive response to the series,” explains David Beckham. He is “so grateful” to the team for making the series, “and also to all the people from my life and career who have taken part and who have played such an important role in my story.”

Nomination for “Best Documentary” among others

At the 76th Emmy Awards, which will be presented in September, “Beckham” can hope for five awards. The series has been nominated in the categories “Best Documentary,” “Outstanding Cinematography for a Non-Fiction Program” and “Outstanding Direction for a Documentary Program.” It is also up for “Outstanding Editing” and “Outstanding Music Composition.”

“Beckham” was released on Netflix on October 4, 2023 and immediately topped the streaming charts. In just three weeks, over 25 million households watched the series. The four episodes show David Beckham’s story from a young footballer to an entrepreneur, loving husband and father of four.
