Carmen premiered in Paris on 3 March 1875 and shocked the French cultural world. The four-act opéra-comique broke with the conventions of the time. It brought the proletarian and popular customs of the Spanish people to the stage without concealing their debauchery or immorality. Bizet’s creation marked a turning point in the genre and, today, this opera is one of the most performed worldwide.
The French composer was able to musically represent the emotions and suffering of his characters through a melody and orchestration that have been acclaimed throughout the world. The story of the Sevillian gypsy stands out for the realism of its scenes and the power of the main character.
Carmen was a woman of strong character, intense emotions and a free spirit.. Without ties or prejudices, the protagonist seduces Don José, an inexperienced corporal who loses his head when he meets the beautiful Sevillian. Inspired by the overwhelming personality of CarmenGrupo L offers a first course called “Gitanas”. This proposal, which brings the traditional Spanish spirit to the table, includes gazpacho, tortilla, crispy filo with a very successful cigarette-shaped style and an exquisite cocktail. Don José abandons his former love to join CarmenHe leaves the army, becomes a deserter and joins a group of smugglers. But soon after, the protagonist, true to her feelings, rejects him to pour her love on the bullfighter Escamillo.
The second course of the menu is named after the two men who fell in love with the Sevillian woman. “Don Jose & Escamillo” It consists of croquettes of the best Iberian ham accompanied by an intense Luca Chardonnay to expose the virility of the men who fight for Carmen’s love.

The characters in the opera are vital, genuine and give in to their impulses and passions without measuring the consequences that their actions may bring. This rustic nobility is reflected in the third step of the gastronomic proposal offered in the confectionery of the Colon Theater“Cavalleria Rusticana” invites you to enjoy a casserole of land and sea with a glass of Altaland.

Finally, the menu concludes with a dessert inspired by the sentiment that runs through the entire opera. “Pasión Sevillana” is a feast of flavour composed of Catalan cream with red fruits and Baileys that represents dramatic love and evokes the tragic end of the opera along with an exquisite Domaine Nico Brut Rosé.
