Shiloh Jolie-Pitt no longer wants to be called her father. Now she has taken the next step and published an ad.
Shiloh (18), the daughter of Brad Pitt (60) and Angelina Jolie (49), is apparently sticking to her plan to remove Pitt from her surname. She published an ad in the “Los Angeles Times” to announce that she no longer wants to be called “Pitt” in the future.
According to US media reports, California law requires a person to publish an application in the classifieds section of a widely read newspaper. This is standard procedure before the court gives the green light for a name change, writes “TMZ”. The celebrity offspring wants to have the name changed from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
Proceedings have been ongoing for weeks
It was already announced in May that Shiloh wants to officially remove her father’s surname from her name. “TMZ” reported at the time that she had applied for a name change. She submitted this on her 18th birthday. On her private Instagram profile, she had already referred to herself as Shi Jolie. The 18-year-old is active as a dancer and apparently wants to be creative without the protection of her famous parents. Nevertheless, she performs under her mother’s name.
Brad Pitt is reportedly still in a divorce battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. An insider told People magazine in early June that the actor was “informed and upset” about Shiloh’s official request to change his name.
Pitt and Jolie have a total of six children together: Maddox (22), Zahara (19) and Pax (20) were adopted by the couple. Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne (16) are biological children. Jolie and Pitt met and fell in love while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in 2005. After getting engaged in 2012, the couple married in France in 2014. In September 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce. There are still legal disputes today, for example over a former shared vineyard in the south of France.
