The origin of this 110-year-old townlocated in the Avellaneda department, Río Negro, is related to the Desert Campaign and the construction of the Bahía Blanca-Neuquén railway line.

In 1888, the shell of the San Pablo establishment, known as “El Fortín”, was completed. which can be visited today and where Colonel Belisle lived. There are communal offices, a police station, the Justice of the Peace, the Civil Registry, a first aid room, two clubs and several educational establishments.

The town is named after the Colonel PC Belisle, who joined the army as a soldier during the Paraguayan War.
