Kamala Harris is currently being considered as the new top candidate for the US Democrats. Numerous celebrities are supporting the politician.
After Joe Biden (81) withdrew from the race for the US presidency in 2024, his deputy Kamala Harris (59) is in the spotlight as the new top candidate for the Democrats. She has announced that she wants to run for office herself and is now publicly supported not only by Biden and top Democratic politicians, but also by voices from the celebrity world. If she wins the election in November, Kamala Harris would be the first woman to lead the USA.
Hillary Clinton stands behind Kamala Harris
Among others, former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (76), who lost the election to Donald Trump in 2016, expressed her solidarity for Harris on social media. Clinton wrote on a photo with her colleague: “I have known Kamala Harris for a long time. This brilliant prosecutor will take on convicted felon Donald Trump and the Project 2025 agenda that is taking away our freedoms. But she can’t do it alone. Join this historic campaign.”
Katy Perry and Ariana Grande are Kamala Harris fans
In response to the announcement of Joe Biden’s withdrawal, singer Katy Perry (39) posted a short video on Instagram in which she sings a part of her new single “Woman’s World” into the camera: “It’s a woman’s world and you should be lucky to live in it.” She added the comment: “That’s it. That’s the headline.” In her story, she also reposted a post in which shots of Kamala Harris are accompanied by her new song.
Singer Ariana Grande (31) also showed her support for Kamala Harris as presidential candidate on her social media channels. She reposted Joe Biden’s post about his decision to support his vice president as a candidate and added a link where US citizens can register to vote.
Jamie Lee Curtis sees hope in Kamala Harris
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis (65) not only expressed her thanks to Joe Biden for his work and his decision: “I support Joe Biden and his decision to step down and support Kamala Harris without reservation. She is trusted and tested, she is a fierce advocate for the rights of women and people of color. Her message is one of hope and unity for America at a time of great national division.”
John Legend joins
Singer John Legend (45) also joined in. “I am so ready to help the pro-democracy coalition reject Trump’s authoritarian and oppressive Project 2025 and elect Kamala Harris as our president. She is ready for this fight and I look forward to helping her in any way I can.”
