Snoop Dogg will be the torchbearer at the Olympic Games in Paris. This is not the only job the US rapper has at the sporting event…
The American rapper Snoop Dogg (52) will be among the bearers of the Olympic torch, which will make its final rounds on Friday (26 July) before the opening ceremony of the games in Paris through the streets of Saint-Denis, a suburb in the north of Paris where the Olympic Stadium is located. The other torchbearers expected in the city on Friday include the French actress Laetitia Casta (46), the French rapper MC Solaar (55) and the Ukrainian former pole vaulter Sergej Bubka (60).
Snoop Dogg has another Olympic job
Snoop Dogg is from the greater Los Angeles area, where the next Summer Olympics will take place in 2028. The rapper will not only appear as a torchbearer at the 2024 sporting event, which runs from July 26 to August 11, but will also work as an Olympic commentator for the US television channel NBC. The musician will be on site regularly for coverage as part of the primetime show on NBC and Peacock.
“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes in Paris giving it their all. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication and the pursuit of greatness,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement about his TV job. He added: “We’re going to have some amazing competition and of course I’ll be bringing Snoop style to the event. This is going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled. Let’s make these games unforgettable, heat up the competition and make the best take gold,” the musician is quoted as saying.
This is not the first such engagement for Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., Snoop Dogg’s real name. Molly Solomon of NBC also pointed this out when she explained: “Snoop is already an Olympic gold medal commentator who reached tens of millions of viewers with his commentary on the highlights of the dressage competition on Peacock at the Tokyo Olympics.”
