Tori Spelling: Intense farewell to Shannen Doherty

On July 13, 2024, series star Shannen Doherty died of cancer. Colleague Tori Spelling was now happy about their last conversations.

Between 1990 and 1994, US actresses Tori Spelling (51) and Shannen Doherty (1971-2024) appeared together in front of the camera for the cult series “Beverly Hills, 90210” – and became good friends during this time. After Doherty left the series in 1994 following internal tensions behind the scenes, rumors circulated for a long time about disputes between the two actresses, which Tori Spelling did not comment on for a long time.

It was only in 2019 that the actress asserted that there was nothing to the rumors and that Doherty had always been one of her “best friends.” After the tragic death of her friend and colleague from cancer on July 13, 2024, she has now spoken in more detail for the first time about her last contacts with Shannen Doherty on the show, which she runs together with her former “Beverly Hills, 90210” colleague Jennie Garth (52).

Happy about discussion before Doherty’s death

There she told her co-host: “I’ve experienced a lot of deaths in my life and I don’t believe in regrets.” With all of these deaths, however, she has always regretted not having had the time “to get a second chance to get over the past and see all the good things and really talk about it and have that final conversation.” Fortunately, this was different with Shannen Doherty. “I feel like she and I had that and I’m super grateful for that,” said Spelling.

Her colleague Jennie Garth responded: “I’ve definitely been thinking of you, Tor, and how lucky you must have been to have that time with her and to have that kind of reconnection on a deeper level as you both matured and grew and learned so much.” She wishes she had had that opportunity herself, as she “couldn’t really sit down with her and have a deep conversation with her” before Doherty’s death. However, she is very happy that Spelling was still able to do that.

Last “journey into the past” with terminally ill girlfriend

Tori Spelling had already published a very short post-Shannen Doherty post. In it she wrote: “In a world where we often don’t have the opportunity to relive the childhood friendships that have such a huge impact on the adult you become, we were given this chance.” And added: “I’m grateful that @theshando and I were able to travel back in time as adult friends and remember why we really loved each other from the beginning. Reminisce. And laugh like we used to. No one could make me laugh like that. Pure laughter!”
