In PressureFraser will play Dwight Eisenhowerthe American military general who led the decisive Allied effort in June 1944, as he struggles with the decision to send troops to Normandy due to unpredictable weather conditions. Because of this, British weather chief James Stagg (Andrew Scott), is called upon to deliver what may well be the most important weather forecast in history.

“In the seventy-two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element: the British weather,” read a press release for Pressure, shared by production company STUDIOCANAL. “With just hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions of people hang in the balance.”

Haig has co-written the film’s script with Maras, according to the same press release.
For the first time in six years, Maras will direct a feature film with Pressure . His previous film, Hotel Mumbaipremiered in 2018 and featured the participation of Dev Patel and Armie Hammer.
In the role of Eisenhower, Fraser will return to the big screen as a leading actor in a film for the first time since winning the Best Actor Oscar in 2023 for his portrayal of Charlie, an obese professor who tries to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter, in The Whale of Darren Aronofsky. Most recently, Fraser appeared in Killers of the Flower Moon of Martin Scorsese like lawyer WS Hamilton.
Scott, best known for playing the sexy priest in the acclaimed British comedy series Fleabaghas raised his stature as an actor after his critically praised performances in All of Us Strangers of Andrew Haigh and the series of Netflix Ripley. He will arrive at the project fresh from the filming of Wake Up Dead Man of Rian Johnsonthe next trilogy of Knives Out which will be released in 2025.
No release date has been announced for Pressure, however filming is set to begin in September in the UK.
