Rebecca Ferguson Joins Cillian Murphy in Netflix’s ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie

Netflix has greenlit a film that will see Oscar winner Murphy return to the iconic role of Tommy Shelby

The star of Dune and Mission Impossible, Rebecca Fergusonjoined the cast of the upcoming film Peaky Blinders of NetflixFerguson is the first high-profile name to join the cast of the previously announced Cillian MurphyDetails about Ferguson’s role are being kept under wraps.

Netflix has greenlit a film that will see Oscar winner Murphy return to the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the Birmingham gangster family.

What is known about the Peaky Blinders movie

Tom Harper will direct the film from a script by Peaky creator, Steven KnightProducers are Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason. The film will be made in association with BBC Film.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Knight told Deadline in April that the film’s story would be set during World War II. Production is expected to begin this year.

Recently, Ferguson reprised her role as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Twothe movie of Denis Villeneuve which grossed $712 million worldwide. She is also known for starring alongside Tom Cruise three films of Mission Impossibleincluding last year’s Dead Reckoning – Part One, and recently wrapped production on the sci-fi thriller Mercy from MGM Studios alongside Chris Pratt.

Also on deck, the busy and in-demand Ferguson has been confirmed to star in the upcoming untitled feature film from Kathryn Bigelow for Netflix .

On television, Ferguson stars in and executive produces the Apple TV+ drama Silowhich will soon announce the premiere date for season 2.
