Josh Hartnett turned his back on Hollywood for many years. Now he talks about his motives.
On August 1st, Josh Hartnett’s (46) new film “Trap” by “The Sixth Sense” director M. Night Shyamalan (53) will be released in cinemas. The actor is back in the spotlight, having already appeared on the big screen in the award-winning film “Oppenheimer” in 2023. Now, why he turned his back on Hollywood for a long time. “The attention people paid to me was borderline unhealthy at the time,” he explained to the British newspaper.
By then, Josh Hartnett means the time around the turn of the millennium. Through roles in “Pearl Harbor” and “40 Days and 40 Nights,” he was one of the most successful young stars. But then he retired. He turned down offers to play Superman and Batman. Instead, he devoted himself to family life. The American lives in the countryside in Egerton’s English homeland with his wife Tamsin Egerton (35) and their four children.
“People showed up at my house”
“There were incidents,” Josh Hartnett said about the fuss surrounding him around the year 2000. “People showed up at my house. People who stalked me.” Once a man came to a premiere party with a gun and claimed to be his father. He is now in prison.
“There were a lot of things. It was a strange time,” recalled the former teen darling. The stalking experiences were not the only, but an important reason for his withdrawal.
In “Trap: No Way Out,” Josh Hartnett plays a serial killer who attends a pop concert with his daughter. At some point, he realizes that the event is a trap to catch him.
