Selena Gomez is fighting back against rumors about possible cosmetic surgery. Now the singer is revealing what she really had done.
Botox, BBL, buccal fat removal: There are always numerous rumors about which beauty procedures celebrities have had done. Cosmetic doctors often express their suspicions on social media. Singer Selena Gomez (32) has now responded to such a TikTok video and revealed whether she has ever gone under the knife.
TikToker Marissa Barrionuevo, who according to her self-description on the social network works as a medical assistant in a beauty practice in the USA, answered fan questions in a now-deleted video from 2023. Barrinuevo had said in the video that she did not want to analyze Selena Gomez’s appearance because the singer has had health problems for several years. She explained that the diagnosis of lupus can change a person’s face and should not be confused with cosmetic procedures.
Selena Gomez wants to be left alone
Gomez responded to the video with a comment over the weekend. “Honestly, I hate this,” the singer wrote. She took “stripes,” as the English original of her post states. In the comments, there is speculation that Gomez meant steroids that she took for the autoimmune disease lupus. She continued: “And I have Botox. That’s all. Leave me alone.”
Marissa Barrionuevo then deleted the original clip and posted an apology to the singer. “I admire you. I really mean well, so I apologize if this upset you in any way.”
Selena Gomez forgives TikToker
She also wrote about the video: “Although I always try to lead with grace and mindfulness, I’m sorry for upsetting you (and I understand why). I decided last year to stop making videos like this because they can have negative effects. That was never my intention.” Selena Gomez didn’t wait long to forgive the TikToker: “I love you. It’s not about you. Sometimes I just get sad,” she commented.
Gomez was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 and subsequently underwent a kidney transplant and chemotherapy. Lupus is a complex autoimmune disease that can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, heart, lungs and nervous system. Sufferers also often experience extreme fatigue and weight loss or gain.
