17 years ago, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Hudson met on the “Sex and the City” set. Now they met again in Paris.
They appeared together in front of the camera for the first “Sex and the City” film in 2007. 17 years later, Sarah Jessica Parker (49) and Jennifer Hudson (42) are celebrating a reunion – and not in New York, but in Paris.
“Love is the most important thing”
On the sidelines of the Olympic Games, the two posed together in front of the Eiffel Tower. “Look who I met in Paris!” the 42-year-old wrote on Sunday with the picture on her Instagram profile. “Carrie and Louise are finally reunited! Love is the most important thing, you know!” she wrote, alluding to their roles at the time.
In the film, which continued the cult series “Sex and the City” after six seasons, Parker’s character Carrie Bradshow hired Louise from St. Louis (Jennifer Hudson) as her assistant to help her “get back into the world” after she was dumped by Mr. Big (Chris Noth) shortly before getting married. For Christmas, Carrie gave her assistant, who loved handbags and usually rented them, an unforgettable luxury gift: a $5,400 Louis Vuitton handbag. The “Sex and the City” main character, in turn, owed her love comeback with Mr. Big to Louise, because she had carefully saved all of his love emails for Carrie.
The film about four friends from New York was released in cinemas in 2008 and grossed $418.8 million at the box office worldwide on a budget of $65 million. A second part was released in 2010. A third film was said to have been discussed from time to time, but failed – not least because Kim Cattrall (67) no longer wanted to take part. Instead, the sequel “And Just Like That…” was released in 2021, and filming for the third season is currently underway.
Versatile career
Jennifer Hudson did not appear in the second “Sex and the City” film. From 2008 onwards, she concentrated primarily on her music career. Her first solo album was released in autumn 2008, and in 2009 she sang at the Super Bowl. In September 2022, she embarked on another career path with her daily talk show “The Jennifer Hudson Show”. She thus became the successor to Ellen DeGeneres (66). She is also active as a producer. In 2022, she won a Tony Award for her production of “A Strange Loop”. Since she also won the Oscar, the Emmy and the Grammy, she is the youngest woman to have received all four major awards in the entertainment industry. This makes her one of the few EGOT award winners.
Her great success was overshadowed by a private tragedy. In October 2008, her former brother-in-law killed her mother, brother and nephew. Her sister’s ex-husband was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment three times for murder. In August 2009, there was another ray of hope for Jennifer Hudson: she became the mother of a son.
