Streaming: “Wednesday” werewolf Emma Myers will soon be a junior detective

The mini-series “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is based on the novel of the same name by Holly Jackson. It all begins with a school assignment about a true crime case – a dangerous undertaking.

In the Netflix global hit “Wednesday,” Emma Myers played a colorful werewolf, the best friend of the dark title character. In a few weeks, the 22-year-old will be the star of a British thriller series. The German launch is on August 30th in the ZDF media library, in other countries the series is already starting this Thursday – on Netflix.

“A very strong character”

As the lead actress in “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” Myers plays small-town girl Pip, who investigates a local true crime for a school project and becomes more and more entangled in dangerous secrets. “Pip is a very strong character, totally determined,” says the actress. “The way Holly Jackson described her in the books and the way Poppy Cogan interpreted her for the series made her great fun to play.”

In an interview for ZDF, Myers enthusiastically talks about how she and the crew covered an entire wall with photos and newspaper articles for the series – an overview collage for the case, as is also known from other thrillers. “I find it helpful to represent things visually in order to keep an overview and remember,” says Myers.

A body was never found

Pip does that too. “It helps her to see everything at once. The first day we shot a scene with the wall (…) was so much fun.” She knew it would be fun, the actress remembers. “It was beautiful, honestly breathtaking. It looks great with all the detail on the wall, especially as the investigation progresses.”

About the plot: A village in the south-west of England. Five years have passed since seventeen-year-old Andie Bell disappeared. The files have long been closed. Andie’s boyfriend Sal admitted to murdering her. But Andie’s body was never found. Model student and amateur detective Pippa, known as Pip, gets to the bottom of the mystery. The series “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is based on the novel of the same name by Holly Jackson. From September 8th, ZDFneo will also broadcast the mini-series in double episodes on Sundays.
