The actor met the trained hairstylist and make-up artist in the late 90s when he happened to pass by her salon. “I knew immediately when I saw her for the first time that she was the one for me,” he said. “I looked across the room and when I saw her, I was completely overwhelmed.”
Two years later, in 1999, they tied the knot. Their three children, 22-year-old Talula and 17-year-old twins Sullivan and Darby, made their love life complete. For 15 years, they seemed to have the perfect marriage, far away from the hype of Hollywood. Thanks to his starring role as Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd in the hospital series “Grey’s Anatomy,” Dempsey had long since become one of the most sought-after TV stars in the world – at the expense of his marriage?
“I wasn’t ready to give up our marriage”
In January 2015, the couple unexpectedly filed for divorce. At almost the same time, the series “Grey’s Anatomy” ended. The actor died after eleven seasons and ten years. Dempsey took a break to save his marriage and family. “I probably should have left a few years earlier,” he later admitted.
