Once a royal, always a royal? Not quite when it comes to the annual royal family vacation. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are said to not be invited. King Charles is said to refuse to speak to him.
It is a tradition, introduced by the late Queen Elizabeth II, to spend the summer holidays in Balmoral, Scotland. Many members of the British royal family then come to visit in turn.
But not all relatives will be welcome at the castle this year. According to sources at People Magazine, dropout Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will not be invited.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan resigned from their royal service in April 2020, stepped down as working royals and moved to the USA to build a life independent of the royal family. The king is taking this independence more and more seriously. The Americans were also not invited to his birthday parade “Trooping the Colour” in June.
Prince Harry demands better personal protection – his father could help him
There have been repeated problems between Prince Harry and his family in the past. He made public accusations against the royal family through a documentary and his memoirs. He also disagrees with the protection of his person and family in Great Britain, which he is no longer entitled to after leaving the royal family. The prince even tried to enforce his right to paid police protection in court, but failed. He is said to be planning to appeal the ruling.
The magazine’s source also said that King Charles is supposed to be ghosting his son and is currently not answering his phone calls. In February, Prince Harry spontaneously traveled to England when his father made his cancer public. But now the king is said to be giving him the cold shoulder, perhaps so that he can concentrate on his recovery on vacation and not have to have conflict-laden discussions about police protection with his son. He is said to be of the opinion that his father could help him with his problem.
