Kit Harington He played Jon Snow in game of Thrones of HBO for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019, and that’s all the time in Westeros he can apparently handle for now. The actor recently told the Associated Press that he can’t watch the “Thrones” prequel series, House of the Dragonwhich just wrapped up its second season. The series has already been renewed for season 3, and the plan is for there to be a fourth and final season as well.
“I can not see it”Harington said of the series after his own stint in the universe created by George R.R. Martin. “I think for me it’s just that I’ve spent too much time there. And I wish them all the best. I’ve heard it’s wonderful and it’s going very well. But I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show again, and I don’t think I’ll be watching ‘Game of Thrones’ again for a few years.”.
Harington isn’t the only member of the original “Thrones” cast who decided not to watch “House of the Dragon.” Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen, told Variety last year that she “just can’t do it.”
“It’s very weird, very weird, very strange,” she said. “It’s like someone saying, ‘Do you want to go to this year’s alumni reunion that’s not yours? Do you want to go to that alumni reunion again?’ That’s how I feel. I’m avoiding it.”
“Snow”, the failed sequel to Game of Thrones
Harington was planning to return to Westeros for a sequel series centered on Jon Snowbut confirmed earlier this year that the project had been shelved.
“Currently, it is ruled out“We just couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were excited enough about,” Harington told ScreenRant of the spinoff. “So we decided to put it aside for the time being. We might pick it up again in the future, but right now, no. It’s firmly shelved.”
Game of Thrones concluded with Jon Snow’s exile from Westeros as he rides into the Enchanted Forest with his direwolf Ghost and the Wildlings to start a new life. Many fans assumed that the spin-off series would have continued Snow’s adventures with the Wildlings.
In a recent interview with Collider, Harington said that a prequel series like House of the Dragon is simply a more natural extension of the franchise than any kind of sequel series.
“I think a prequel is a natural thing to do. They did it with ‘Better Call Saul’ and ‘House of the Dragon’. “You run into a lot of problems with a sequel,” Harington said. “By then, a lot of the cast is already done with it. So who are you going to bring back? Are you going to bring back the same people? So, no, I’m not surprised that a prequel is an easier thing to do. It’s not easier to do, but it’s a more natural path to go.”
Harington returns to HBO for the new season of Industry.
