The German actor, voice actor and dialogue writer Rainer Brandt (1936-2024) is dead. Brandt died peacefully at home on August 1st. He was 88 years old.
He lent his voice to Elvis
Brandt has lent his German voice to numerous entertainment greats over the decades, including Elvis Presley (1935-1977), Tony Curtis (1925-2010) and Jean-Paul Belmondo (1933-2021). He also provided the Italian acting duo Terence Hill (85) and Bud Spencer (1929-2016) with his lines for the German version of their films.
The Berlin native started his career in the 1950s when he accidentally introduced himself to a dubbing studio, thinking it was a film studio. At the same time as his first work as a dubbing artist, he completed acting training at the Max Reinhardt School in Vienna. As an actor, he appeared in a wide variety of films and series and also acted in the theater.
A family full of voice actors
Rainer Brandt leaves behind his wife Ursula Heyer (84), also a voice actress and voice actress, as well as their two children, who have also followed in their father’s footsteps. His daughter Judith (59) lent her voice to Sophie Marceau (57) and Monica Bellucci (59), among others. Son Andrej Brandt voiced Larry Hovis (67) in “Hogan’s Heroes”, among others.
Terence Hill says goodbye
Terence Hill has already spoken out about Rainer Brandt’s death. He told “Bild” that Brandt had “a huge part in ensuring that the successful films here were even more successful”. He was “very sad that Rainer has gone”. “His wit was brilliant and brought many people together. We had a lovely reunion in Berlin a few years ago. I remember it with joy”, he added.
