Democratic Party Convention: Does Kamala Harris have to rein in Hollywood stars?

Democratic Party Convention: Does Kamala Harris have to rein in Hollywood stars?

Can you have too much support from global stars? These are the concerns that the Democrats around Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are said to have.

The Democratic team in the race for the White House, Kamala Harris (59) and Tim Walz (60), can be sure of the active support of well-known stars from the dream factory of Hollywood. In fact, there is now even concern within the party that it could be too much of a good thing. There are fears that the upcoming Democratic National Convention (DNC), the Democratic Party convention, which runs from August 19 to 22, could be too celebrity-heavy.

It is said that they want to avoid the party convention degenerating into a meeting of the “liberal Hollywood elite” at all costs. The strategy behind this is obvious: in order not to alienate undecided voters and drive them to the competition, they would rather rely on a few, but well-known, stars – and otherwise appear as close to the people as possible. The year 2016 is cited as a cautionary tale, when the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton adorned herself too much with Hollywood stars in the minds of many people and neglected her own party program. As is well known, she lost at the time to the old and now new challenger of the Republicans, Donald Trump (78).

The collection is rich and world-famous

The duo certainly doesn’t have to worry about a lack of stars who would step in for Harris/Walz. A-listers such as George Clooney (63), Jeff Bridges (74), Julianne Moore (63), Mark Hamill (72) and music stars such as Katy Perry (39) and Ariana Grande (31) have recently spoken out in favor of Harris. However, it has not yet been revealed which celebrities will ultimately appear at the Democratic National Convention. Only one name has already been confirmed: John Legend (45) is said to be there – but it is unclear whether he will just perform there or also give a speech.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party Convention had already taken place. There, several stars had publicly spoken out in favor of Republican Donald Trump. However, there was no concern that there might be too many: former wrestler Hulk Hogan (70), musician Kid Rock (53) and model Amber Rose (40) were the most famous representatives.
