Streaming: “Yellowstone”: German fans have to wait for new episodes

The Hollywood strike prevented filming of the popular western series “Yellowstone”. In the USA there is a start date for the remaining episodes of season 5. What does it look like for Germany?

German fans of the successful western series “Yellowstone” will have to wait for new episodes. A start date for the German-speaking region has not yet been set, said the streaming service Paramount+ Germany in response to a request from the German Press Agency.

The remaining episodes of season 5 will be available in the US from November 10th. The Hollywood strike prevented filming, so only part of the season was shown and ended abruptly. In Germany, the series, which started in 2018, is now available from several streaming providers.

“Yellowstone” by screenwriter Taylor Sheridan with Hollywood star Kevin Costner (69) in the lead role as the family patriarch is a contemporary western series. Everything revolves around the Dutton family in the US state of Montana on the border with Canada, who run the Yellowstone ranch.

The mix seems to attract many fans: The ranch fights to preserve its property and stands up against large external investors. It is about living together with the indigenous population. There is a lot of cowboy life with horses, ropes, rodeo and herds of animals. Nature shots from the vastness of the USA are shown. There is also sex, intrigue, melancholy, care, hate, love and dark family secrets. There is an incredible amount of drinking and there are many murders and weapons.

Without Kevin Costner

Of all people, Costner (“Bodyguard”, “Robin Hood”, “Dances with Wolves”) will probably not be seen again. He announced on Instagram some time ago that “Yellowstone” was behind him. On August 22nd, his big project “Horizon” will be launched in Germany – currently featured in many media because Costner was on a promotional tour here: a western series for the cinema that did not meet expectations in the USA.
