Tears at Munich Airport: Bebe Rexha said on Instagram that she was discriminated against by a Lufthansa employee. The US pop star has almost 12 million followers. The airline is trying to appease people.
The US musician Bebe Rexha appeared completely distraught on Instagram on Saturday: For videos in her stories, she filmed herself crying at Munich Airport. “I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian,” she wrote, among other things, in the clips, which have since expired. She spoke to him in Albanian and now he wouldn’t let her on her flight.
Bebe Rexha is followed by almost twelve million people on Instagram. The New York native with Albanian roots has already written songs for Selena Gomez and Eminem and is very well known in the USA. She believes that racism was involved in the incident in Munich. “I think this is a case of hate crime because I am Albanian,” the 34-year-old added to her video, according to consensus. None of the Lufthansa employees standing around intervened. The employee refused to give her his name and “psychologically abused” her. The airline reacted immediately to the allegations and contacted Bebe Rexha directly.
Lufthansa employee abused his power, says Bebe Rexha
“We are currently investigating the allegations internally,” said a Lufthansa spokesman on star-Inquiry. “We do not tolerate discriminatory behavior of any kind.” However, he clarified: “Bebe Rexha took her flight normally and on time. All passengers flying to the USA and Canada are subject to a document check at Munich Airport before they can enter the gate area.”

The musician herself has now spoken out about the issue again, back in the USA. She wrote in another Instagram story that she had never been so emotionally drained and called on Lufthansa to investigate the case thoroughly and find out who the man was who abused his power. “A ‘sorry’ is not enough this time,” said the pop star.
The Lufthansa spokesperson has not yet answered whether the employee concerned has already been identified, what consequences the incident will have and how long the internal investigation will take.
