Around half a century ago, a farmer lost his Rolex Air King while feeding his cows. The watch recently resurfaced in the field. Now a watchmaker is restoring the rare find.
It is an unusual case: the young British farmer James Steele bought himself a Rolex in the 1950s. He had previously seen them on the wrists of soldiers. Steele wore the watch every day for more than 20 years – until he lost it. It must have happened while he was feeding his cows, no one knows for sure. The watch was gone. Then, 50 years later, the surprise: Steele’s badly damaged Rolex Air King was found in the field.
