Things are heating up in the RTL jungle. The broadcaster should be pleased: the concept of putting well-known squabblers and drama queens from past seasons in a camp seems to be working.
The celebrities in the RTL jungle camp have not yet had a whole week – but on day five, nerves in the camp are already frayed. The episode broadcast on Monday on the streaming service RTL+ again did not result in anyone being kicked out, but did offer a lot of drama.
In the fifth episode of the special season “Showdown of the Jungle Legends” there was again a row, especially between the female reality stars. Giulia Siegel felt provoked by Daniela “Danni” Büchner and Kader Loth. They, in turn, were annoyed by the 49-year-old’s quick-tempered nature (Büchner: “We all go to the same toilet, so there’s no need to pretend”).
Elena Miras joined in the ranting and criticized Siegel for breaking the rules – she shared cigarettes with her fellow campers, which is not allowed. Hanka Rackwitz had bad dreams and made all the participants feel it. And Georgina Fleur ended up crying because she felt underestimated by everyone else. “They’re killing me early in the morning. They’re so psycho,” she complained, sobbing.
Unsuccessful treasure hunt and difficult jungle test
The first treasure hunt of the season also failed to lift the campers’ spirits. Reality grande dame Loth and presenter Mola Adebisi initially managed to get their hands on the coveted treasure chest in a fishing game. But the RTL “legends” were wrong in the final math problem (“How many minutes are there in a week?”), which was given to the whole camp. So there were no treats for the group, instead they had to rely on the outcome of the jungle test for calories.
The day’s test, entitled “Despair Rock Face,” combined several classic jungle camp challenges: heights, disgust, skill, and teamwork under stress. 32-year-old Miras, who had previously complained about her fear of heights, climbed up a rock face while trembling and had to collect stars hidden in holes. Teammate Thorsten Legat used a pulley to pull the coveted stars down – while the 55-year-old’s head was stuck in a cage full of corn snakes. Both showed great concentration in the demanding test and collected four stars.
The new “I’m a Celebrity” season is a special edition for the show’s 20th anniversary, and is set in South Africa. All of the “legends”, as RTL calls the participants, have already sat around the fire in previous seasons. The first season of the German jungle camp was broadcast in 2004.
