Susanne Daubner rarely talks about her private life. Now the “Tagesschau” presenter has revealed that she is going to be a grandmother for the first time.
“Tagesschau” presenter Susanne Daubner (63) will soon be a grandmother. The presenter revealed this in a bar conversation with Ina Müller (59).
When Müller asks Daubner during the beer mat question round whether she would like to be a “grandma,” the 63-year-old replies: “My love, I’m going to be a grandma,” to which the audience applauds. She also announces that it will happen in December. “I’m very happy,” says Daubner.
During the conversation, the “Tagesschau” presenter also revealed further details about her private life. First, Ina Müller wanted to know whether she was currently in a relationship, to which Susanne Daubner answered with a clear “no”.
Susanne Daubner on her taste in men
When asked about her taste in men, the 63-year-old reveals that she cannot commit to one type of man. It is different in every phase of life. However, she admits that her partners “can be a bit younger”. A relationship at work would be a clear taboo for Daubner: “I broke that up when I was in my mid-20s. I want my job and I want my private life. That is very important to me.”
Susanne Daubner usually keeps a low profile when it comes to her private life. The newsreader fled from the GDR to the West in 1989 via Hungary and Yugoslavia and married the person who helped her escape from West Berlin. She has a daughter with him who was born in 1990. Daubner and her husband divorced in 2000, and Daubner then raised her daughter alone.
The “Tagesschau” presenter was born in Halle an der Saale in 1961, then worked as a radio presenter in the GDR and, after fleeing, for Sender Freies Berlin (SFB). From 1992, she worked for Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg (ORB). Daubner has been part of the ARD “Tagesschau” presenter team since January 1999, and in April of the same year she presented her first main broadcast at 8 p.m.
