Because her dog was “badly behaved,” Lily Allen simply brings the adopted furry friend back to the animal shelter.
“Horrible person”: Singer and actress Lily Allen (39) is currently having to listen to such insults because she took her dog back to the animal shelter after the four-legged friend ate the family’s passports.
“We adopted a dog before, but then it ate my passport and the kids’. So I brought her back home,” . “She ate all three of our passports and our visas. I can’t tell you how much money it cost me to have everything replaced because it was during Covid. It was a logistical nightmare.” The London native lives in New York with her partner David Harbour (49) and their two daughters Ethel (13) and Marnie (11).
“You ruined my life”
The adoption of the puppy in 2021 “ruined her life”. The loss of the travel documents prevented her daughters from seeing their father Sam Cooper (46), who lives in England, for “four or five months”.
Allen saw no other option than to give the dog back: “Passports weren’t the only thing she ate, she was a very badly behaved dog. I tried really hard, but it just didn’t work and the passports were the tip of the iceberg.” The Briton received no sympathy for this.
Animal rights activists are angry
In response to Lily Allen’s complaint:
“Did she take responsibility for leaving the passports where a puppy couldn’t get to them? No. What a horrible person,” one user raged. “This is her fault, not the poor dog’s. She is clearly an idiot of the highest order for not keeping important documents away from animals,” another criticised. “There are no badly behaved dogs, only badly behaved owners. A dog didn’t ruin your life, you ruined your own life by not taking responsibility for your belongings.”
Despite the bad experience with her previous dog, Allen plans to add another furry friend to her family. She and her daughters have chosen a Chihuahua mix and will name him Jude Bellingham (an English national soccer player).
