Three people die and eight others are injured in a knife attack in Solingen. Veronica Ferres, Jota Petridou and Kevin Kampl are from Solingen and are sharing their condolences on Instagram.
Actress Veronica Ferres appears to have been sitting in front of the television in shock when the news reported that an attack had been carried out in her hometown of Solingen. During the celebrations for the 650th anniversary, a man randomly attacked passers-by with a knife. He killed three people and seriously injured at least five others. The perpetrator is still on the run.
Veronica Ferres was born in Solingen and still has family in the city. Her connection to her hometown is clear in her Instagram story: She photographed her television, on which the terrible news about the attack can be seen, and wrote: “My hometown. I pray for my family and friends and for all the injured and victims.” The actress expresses her sympathy for the accident.
Panagiota Petridou was on site in Solingen
This is also the case with TV presenter Panagiota Petridou, who was also born in Solingen. On Instagram, the 45-year-old published a long statement with a black mourning frame in which she wrote, among other things: “I am shocked and deeply affected by the terrible events in my hometown of Solingen.” Apparently Petridou was supposed to host the 650th anniversary celebration herself, so she assured her fans and followers: “My family and I got home safely, given the circumstances.” She concluded her statement with the words: “I stand here sad and can hardly find words for the pain that grips us all.”
Football player Kevin Kampl, who plays for the RB Leipzig club, was also born in Solingen. He was also affected by the terrible news from his homeland, so he expressed his grief on social media. He shared a picture with a candle on which was written: “In silent mourning – In memory of the victims of the attack in Solingen on August 23, 2024”.
