Amira Aly no longer bears the surname of her ex-partner Oliver Pocher. Now she is talking about the name change.
Amira Aly (31) is back! In her podcast, the former partner of Oliver Pocher (46) explains, among other things, why she no longer wanted to compete as Amira Pocher against the singer Vanessa Mai (32) in the latest edition of “Schlag den Star” last Saturday. The presenter also explains that she had not originally planned to use the name Pocher at all.
After the public mudslinging surrounding the separation and divorce from the comedian, whom Aly married in 2019, the 31-year-old has at least already dropped her former name on TV and on Instagram. “I have applied to the registry office to change my name,” she said. “It’s not official yet, just a formality. But through my appearance as Amira Aly on ‘Schlag den Star’ I can get used to my new or old name.”
“And it was an unbelievably crazy feeling”
This start to her new Aly era was a success. And not just because she was able to beat Mai in the end and win 100,000 euros. “And finally I, Amira Aly, won ‘Beat the Star’. And it was an unbelievably awesome feeling,” the presenter remembers in the , which she has together with her brother Hima.
“I wanted to compete in this show as Amira Aly and win,” she says. “I’m really happy to be able to use my name again. It always feels good.” Amira Aly is “so fitting as a name, it just fits.” She also feels “completely comfortable” with her name and since the show “has also just reset a bit.” She finally has the feeling again “that I’m doing something without a complete assessment of my private life.”
The presenter also explains that she remembers that she actually didn’t want to give up the name Aly for the name Pocher at first. She had suggested a double name at the time, but “the other side didn’t think that was so great.”
100,000 euros and a new house
When her brother asked her about the prize money of 100,000 euros, Aly explained that she would “definitely find a use for it” because she was “creating a home for my children and me”. The money “will definitely go straight into the house. A good cause for the children.” It should start in October and she would then also like to report on the construction site.
“In this format, you get to keep your winnings. That’s what I’m going to do.” She wants to put the money into a house that she is building for herself and her two sons in Cologne. She also took a dig at her ex. “Contrary to his public claims,” he is not paying anything for their children. She wants to use the money to furnish the children’s rooms and pay other bills “that arise when you are a single mother.” Pocher, among other things, was not very charming: “Maths have never been her strong point…”
