Sidney Eudy made a name for himself in the wrestling world as “Sid Vicious.” Now he has died at the age of 63.
The wrestling world is mourning the loss of Sidney Eudy (1960-2024). The US wrestler has died at the age of 63. His son Gunnar announced this on social media on August 26. “I must share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after a multi-year battle with cancer. He was a man full of strength, kindness and love, and we will miss him very much.” The family is grateful “for thoughts and prayers as we mourn this loss. Details of a memorial service will be announced shortly.”
Eudy, who became known as Lord Humongous, Sid Vicious, Sid Justice or Sycho Sid, began his wrestling career in the 1980s and was active in several wrestling promotions. These included stints with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he signed up in 1991 and entered the ring against Hulk Hogan (71), among others. He won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship and the WCW World Heavyweight Title several times. In 2001, he suffered a serious injury in WCW. In 2012, he returned to the WWE after 15 years and made an appearance on Monday Night RAW in the same year. Eudy leaves behind his wife and two sons.
Wrestling colleagues pay tribute to Sid Eudy
WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) paid tribute to Sidney Eudy on X with a clip showing photos from his wrestling career and stated, “WWE remembers the life and legacy of Sid Eudy.” Another post states, “WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”
Wrestling star Shawn Michaels wrote: “It is with sadness that I learned of the passing of Sid Eudy. He is unforgettable and the role he played in the making of ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ cannot be overstated. His work, legacy and influence will continue to inspire our industry for generations to come.”
Fellow wrestler Booker T commented on a photo of Eudy: “I don’t think my brother and I would have made it to WCW without Sid Vicious.” His influence on this business is undeniable, “and he paved the way for so many of us. My deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time.”
