Sigourney Weaver and her child Shar Simpson: Together on the red carpet

Sigourney Weaver walked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival with her child Shar – hand in hand with filmmaker Nemo Allen.

US actress Sigourney Weaver (74) appeared on the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival accompanied by her child Charlotte “Shar” Simpson (34).

Beaming, hand in hand and in matching black outfits, they posed for the assembled photographers. The third member of the group was filmmaker Nemo Allen, and they also held hands with him. Together they attended the premiere of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (German cinema release: September 12).

Screen legend Weaver is also this year’s winner of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.

Three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver wore a black sequined top and flared skirt, while Shar Simpson, who is non-binary and uses they/their pronouns, appeared in a black one-shoulder dress.

Weaver paired it with sparkling earrings, Simpson with pearl earrings. The film star kept her make-up subtle, while her child wore red lipstick.

Nemo Allen added another colorful accent with his wine-red suit.

Sigourney Weaver and Jim Simpson married for 40 years

Actress Sigourney Weaver has been married to Shar’s father, US theater and filmmaker Jim Simpson (68), since 1984.

Unlike her famous mother, Shar has pursued a career in education. She works as an adjunct assistant professor in the Digital Storytelling Lab at Columbia University School of the Arts in New York City.

In 1979, Sigourney Weaver took on the eponymous, terrifying alien fighting machine in Ridley Scott’s (86) groundbreaking sci-fi horror film “Alien”. Three more sequels starring Weaver followed up until 1997. “Alien: Romulus”, the latest entry in the long-running franchise, was released in cinemas just this month.

Weaver was nominated for an Oscar for the first “Alien” film, for “Gorillas in the Mist” (1988) and “Guns for Women” (1988).
