US star Angelina Jolie has arrived in Venice. She made her first appearance at the film festival in a brown chiffon dress.
Superstar Angelina Jolie (49) plays opera singer Maria Callas (1923-1977) in the biopic “Maria” by Pablo Larraín (48). The film will celebrate its premiere today (29.8.) as part of the Venice Film Festival (28 August to 7 September). The film is also taking part in the competition for the Golden Lion.
The US actress appeared at her first promotional appearance on Thursday afternoon at the Lido in a semi-transparent brown chiffon dress. The front of the sleeveless, floor-length dress was shaped by a complex cross seam in the shape of a diamond. Jolie combined this with matching shoes and sunglasses as she got out of her boat at the Hotel Excelsior and waved to fans. Her long, balayage-colored hair was styled in a loose side parting. She subtly emphasized the eye area with her make-up.
In addition to Jolie, the Italian actress Valeria Golino (58) can be seen as Callas’ sister Yakinthi, born in 1917, and the Turkish actor Haluk Bilginer (70) as Greek-Argentine shipowner and Callas lover Aristotle Onassis (1906-1975).
Meeting with ex Brad Pitt possible?
Outside the competition, there are no less prominent films than in the competition. For example, the crime comedy “Wolfs” is the first joint film by superstars George Clooney (63) and Brad Pitt (60) since the spy comedy “Burn After Reading” from 2008. “Spider-Man” director Jon Watts (43) directed the film.
