Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been arguing since their separation in autumn 2016. To ensure that they do not run into each other at the Venice Film Festival, special precautions have been taken.
A row on the Grand Canal – that’s something the people in charge of the Venice Film Festival would rather avoid. Even though a public argument between two of the most famous Hollywood stars of the past decades – Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – would certainly cause a stir. Since their separation in autumn 2016, the two have been mortal enemies.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: No meeting in Venice
They are fighting over their children, over the family holiday home in France that they once shared, and generally over who should interpret the end of their relationship. Jolie and Pitt are currently expected in the lagoon city in Italy. Both are there to promote their respective film projects, Jolie for her drama “Maria”, in which she plays the opera singer Maria Callas, and Pitt for his thriller comedy “Wolfs”.
Brangelina in Venice: There is plenty of potential for explosive material. But that is exactly what is to be prevented, as film festival director Alberto Barbera explains to “Vanity Fair”. There was of course some excitement, but none of the world stars need worry. “Angelina will be there on the first day, Thursday the 29th, and immediately after that with [Regisseur] Pablo Larraín will go to Telluride. Brad will not arrive in Venice until Saturday. It is impossible for them to meet at the Lido,” said Barbera.

Interpersonal dramas rarely cause problems in Venice, he explains. “The biggest problem is the hotels, because we only have one five-star hotel on the Lido, the ‘Excelsior’. Everyone would like to stay there, but it is impossible to find a room for everyone, so we have to convince people to stay in [andere] Hotels,” explains the head of the film festival.
According to reports, the ex-spouses could almost pass each other in the lagoon city. Both have apparently decided to stay in the luxurious “Cipriani” hotel.
