In days where the meeting of OasisIt’s news, Morrissey revealed that he agreed to be part of a reunion tour with The Smiths next year, but said that Johnny Marr “ignored” the lucrative offer.
A statement posted on the singer’s official website, Morrissey Central, reads: “In June 2024, AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to Morrissey and Marr to tour the world as ‘The Smiths’ during 2025.”
The post continued: “Morrissey said yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.”
“Morrissey embarks on a sold-out US tour in November. Marr continues his tour as a special guest of New Order.”
Morrissey’s statement comes after Marr responded negatively to a fan’s request for The Smiths to return amid the big news of the reunion Oasis this week.
The Smiths formed in 1982 and released four studio albums: 1984’s The Smiths, 1985’s Meat Is Murder, 1986’s The Queen Is Dead, and 1987’s Strangeways, Here We Come.
