Sarah Michelle Gellar (47) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (48) are celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary and surprised their fans with a special snapshot. In the picture that the two published on their Instagram accounts, the couple is beaming into the camera. The “Buffy” actress commented on the photo with a simple “22” and added several wedding emojis.
Getting to know each other on the film set
The two met in 1997 while filming the slasher hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” The actor revealed to “E! News” that the couple were platonic friends for two years before they went on a first date more by chance. After that, however, he knew straight away that Gellar was the right one for him – even though many had doubts that this love would last.
The couple finally celebrated their wedding on September 1, 2002 in Mexico. In the same year, they appeared together in front of the camera once again. They received the Kids’ Choice Award for the comedy “Scooby-Doo”. Their daughter was born in 2009, and three years later the birth of their son made the family happiness complete.
