David Beckham: Son Romeo ends his football career

That’s a pretty early voluntary end to a career for a professional athlete, but in this case it’s understandable: Romeo Beckham, the son of football legend David Beckham (49) and Spice Girl Victoria Beckham (50), is hanging up his boots for good at just 22 years of age. According to reports, the Beckham offspring wants to concentrate exclusively on his career as a model in the future. A source told the paper: “He loved his time in Brentford, but he now has to concentrate fully on fashion because that’s his real passion.”

Romeo Beckham was denied the big breakthrough, but he has recently found a permanent place in the second team of Premier League club Brentford FC since 2023. The club is said to have offered Beckham a new contract at the end of June, but he rejected it even then. In return, he is said to have signed a contract with the elite model agency Safe Management in Paris in order to land campaigns with major companies. In the past, Romeo has already worked for brands such as Burberry, Puma and Yves Saint Laurent.

Romeo Beckham initially played in the youth team at Arsenal FC. From 2021, he played in the youth and second team for the MLS team Inter Miami, which is co-owned by his father David Beckham.
