Robbie Williams: Years-long dispute with Oasis revived

Robbie Williams has been at odds with the Oasis brothers since 2000. Now he made a scathing comment about their reunion.

Robbie Williams (50) is still holding on to his argument with Liam (51) and Noel Gallagher (57) even after more than 20 years. He now commented on the upcoming reunion tour of their band Oasis – and didn’t leave the musicians with a good word to say. “I think it’s damn brilliant. I also think it’s fascinating. The soap opera alone will be either exciting or scary to watch,” he wrote, referring to the argument between the brothers that once led to the group’s dissolution.

Apparently Williams doesn’t believe the Gallaghers will end the tour peacefully. “How do you insure this tour? Is it uninsurable? And is there a clause for unresolved childhood traumas to resurface and make the space between and around the boys unbearable?” he joked.

Doubts about Oasis’ show qualities

In addition to peace between the band members, Robbie Williams also doubts that Oasis will put on a good show. The audience at the concerts is much more responsible for creating the right atmosphere. “As for the shows? They will be incredible, something very special, the audience will make sure of that, they have booked an experience in advance. And they will do all the hard work. They ARE the experience,” he continued. Therefore, the shows will be “more about the audience than the band and the songs – the band and the songs have already done the work. The band could be an inanimate object and it wouldn’t matter.”

Nevertheless, the pop singer speaks of a “healing moment for our country” at the Oasis reunion. “Liam Gallagher scrolling through his phone on the toilet would be more charismatic and fascinating than 99.9 percent of the world’s population […]. All he has to do is stand there and sing and the audience will get their money’s worth. Noel will be there too,” said Williams.

The Gallagher brothers announced in August that they would be going on tour again 16 years after their dishonorable separation. 19 concerts are now planned for next summer in Great Britain and Ireland, and the number is increasing.

Arch enemies since 2000

Robbie Williams and the Gallaghers were once friends until Noel referred to him as “that fat dancer from Take That” at the Brit Awards in 2000. A decades-long feud ensued, with the feuding parties repeatedly calling each other insults, including “a mean midget” and “dogshit.”

“I remember every single syllable of everything they ever said about me. Liam said I should be hanged,” Williams explained in 2021. The constant hatred from Oasis even caused him to emigrate from the UK. He described the entire band as “gigantic bullies”.
