The US rapper Rich Homie Quan, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, is dead. He died on Thursday (September 5) at the age of just 34 in his house in Atlanta. His family confirmed this to the site.

The cause of death is still unclear and the rapper’s family is desperately looking for answers. The family is “shocked” and “inconsolable,” they say. Rich Homie Quan is said to have been the father of four sons.
The rapper, born in 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia, began his career in 2011 and celebrated his mainstream breakthrough with his single “Type of Way” in 2013. Rich Homie Quan described him at the time as “part of the up-and-coming generation of rappers in Atlanta who deliver their lines with melody and heart.”
He then became part of the Cash Money Records hip-hop collective “Rich Gang” alongside Young Thug (33), who released the song “Lifestyle” in 2014, which reached platinum status in the USA. For his song “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” he was nominated for two BET Hip Hop Awards in 2015 and for an iHeartRadio Music Award in 2016.
Rappers and fans say goodbye to Rich Homie Quan
Numerous rappers and fans are remembering Rich Homie Quan on social media. Jacquees (30), with whom the rapper had collaborated several times, posted a photo of the two together and wrote: “QUAN! MY BROTHER!!!”, adding a broken heart, a crying emoji, prayer hands and an angel. Rapper 2 Chainz (46) wrote: “Damn little brother, we were just talking about making a video. A special prayer to you and your family and I’m praying for anyone and everyone who is going through something right now. My condolences.”
The US television station Black Entertainment Television (BET) : “Quan provided us with so many hits in the 2010s. As soon as you heard his voice, you knew you were dealing with something special. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. Rest in Power, Quan.”
