Many designers, such as Louis Vuitton’s creative director Pharrell Williams, are already inspired by dogs. But the four-legged friends are not only conquering the catwalks.

In January, “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White made headlines when he advertised for Calvin Klein with his shirt off and wearing only his underwear. The campaign went viral, and within the first few weeks the brand’s sales rose by 30 percent. Now the US fashion company has followed up, again with Allen White, of course. But this time the actor is not alone: ​​he is sitting casually by the pool, with two German shepherds romping around him.

Dogs in fashion: the catwalk as a dog walking mile

While cats were long considered the fashion world’s favorite accessory, dogs are now appearing more and more frequently. Karl Lagerfeld’s pet Choupette seems to have been forgotten, as have Taylor Swift’s trio of cats Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button. As if dog lovers around the world had come together to end the cuddly cat craze of recent years, bulldogs, dachshunds and terriers are now increasingly seen. Some catwalks are even being transformed into dog-walking mile. British Loewe designer Jonathan Anderson designed fashion for the summer that was reminiscent of tapestry stitch pictures and decorated with dogs. Sometimes you could see them on large areas of dresses, sometimes they glittered on shoes and bags.

Musician and Louis Vuitton designer Pharrell Williams has also come out as a dog lover. For his upcoming spring collection, he was inspired by “Dandy Dog Walkers” in New York, i.e. well-dressed men who stroll with their dogs in Central Park. For them, he designed accessories such as bone-shaped bags decorated with the typical LV monogram or small pendants that could dangle from suitcases. It’s logical that he also created a luxury collection for little barkers. From next spring, dogs and their owners can roam around in matching outfits.

“Vogue” also showed how present the trend has become. In mid-August, the fashion magazine launched an unusual online campaign called “The Dog Days Of Summer”. To do this, the magazine promptly changed its name: “Vogue” became “Dogue”. Instead of celebrities on the cover, it showed their dogs for once. Shark, Billie Eilish’s pit bull, looked wide-eyed from the cover, as did Maria Carey’s Jack Russell Terrier and Demi Moore’s Chihuahua. US vice presidential candidate Tim Walz also introduced his Labrador Scout and Anna Wintour her three Doodles Finch, Harper and Radley. The magazine’s Instagram account also reveals that the “Vogue” boss’s dogs go to the groomer every week.

Weird luxury? Well, the designer duo Dolce & Gabbana are taking it up a notch. They recently launched an alcohol-free dog perfume called “” which is named after Domenico Dolce’s four-legged friend. It is supposed to smell of musk, sandalwood and ylang-ylang. Cost: 99 euros. But the scented spray stinks not only to animal rights activists, but also to many dog ​​owners. Even luxury has its limits.
