The “best guitar in the world”, a golf buggy with psychedelic paintwork and a tambourine: After the fuss surrounding the Oasis reunion, collector’s items from the band’s heyday are being auctioned off.
The return of Britpop stars Oasis, Noel and Liam Gallagher, to the stage continues to be the big topic of conversation in the world of rock and pop music.
An auction house is now taking advantage of this to auction off dozens of collectibles from the Gallagher brothers’ heyday.
As the British news agency PA reported, citing the online auction house Propstore, around 60 items related to Oasis are to go under the hammer in November. These include 18 guitars belonging to Noel Gallagher (57) and a golf buggy decorated with a psychedelic pattern that the older of the brothers used to drive around his property.
“Best guitar in the world”
A custom-made guitar from the manufacturer Gibson is valued at the equivalent of up to 475,000 euros. Noel is said to have once described the instrument with the melodious name Silver Sparkle Gibson Les Paul Florentine as the “best guitar in the world” in an interview.
A tambourine that Liam (51) used on stage and a handwritten text from Noel’s hit “Wonderwall” are expected to bring in up to 9,500 euros each.
Private collectors are behind the sale
The pieces will all be on display in an exhibition entitled “Together We’ll Fly” at London’s Cumberland Hotel from October 18 to October 20. The sale is not being arranged by the Oasis musicians, but by private collectors, a spokeswoman for the auction house told Sky News.
Noel and Liam Gallagher recently announced a surprise return to the stage after years of feuding. Concert tickets for performances in Great Britain and Ireland were sold out within a very short time. The two then announced further dates at London’s Wembley Stadium.
