The government began removing from the system those who do not meet the required conditions.

He Government suspended a list of beneficiaries of pensions that were collecting irregularly, after the start of audits in the National Directorate of Support and Economic Allocations of the National Disability Agency (ANDIS). By July, nearly 60,000 pensions had already been cancelled, and efforts continue to ensure that benefits are delivered only to people who really need them.

This decision affects the beneficiaries of the Non-contributory pensions for occupational disabilitywith the aim of financially helping those people who cannot entering the labour market for health reasons or social vulnerabilityThese pensions are not compatible with beneficiaries of the Universal Child Allowance (AUH) or the Pregnancy Allowance (AUE).

The amount of these pensions is equivalent to 70% of the minimum retirement, which in August 2024 was $157,878, with an expected increase to $164,240 in Septemberand, after the 4.03% adjustment in pensions.

Pension Review

According to ANDIS, between 120,000 to 160,000 people could see their jobs suspended their pensions in the coming months. These figures represent between 30% and 40% of the 400,000 pensioners audited.

The authorities carried out a preliminary study which reveals that only the 7% of the 2,559 cases analyzed did not meet the criteria necessary to access the pension. Because of this, controls were intensified, seeking to eliminate from the system those who do not meet the required conditions.

Requirements to access ANSES pensions

To access a Non-contributory pension for occupational disability certain requirements must be met:

  • Not receiving other income from the State
  • Not having formal employment
  • Having insufficient income
  • Be an Argentine citizen or resident with more than 10 years in the country
  • Not being deprived of liberty.
