A message from Catherine, Princess of Wales
As summer draws to a close, I cannot express what a relief it is to finally have completed my chemotherapy treatment.
The past nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. The life we know can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate stormy seas and an unknown road.
The journey through cancer is complex, frightening and unpredictable for everyone, especially those close to you.
It humbly brings you face to face with your own vulnerability in a way you’ve never considered before – experiencing a new perspective on everything.
This time has reminded William and me above all to remember and be grateful for the simple but important things in life, the things that so many of us take for granted: that we love and are loved.
My focus now is to stay cancer free. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my road to healing and full recovery is still long and I have to take each day as it comes.
However, I am looking forward to getting back to work and doing some public appearances if I can manage them.
Despite everything that has happened, I begin this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.
William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all the help that so many have given us. The kindness, empathy and compassion from so many has truly been overwhelming.
To all those who continue their cancer journey – I remain with you, by your side, hand in hand.
From darkness comes light – so let that light shine brightly.
