Only recently, a temporary restraining order was issued against Marius Borg Høiby, and now it has emerged that Mette-Marit’s son has had dealings with the police before.
The problem child of the Norwegian royal family is called Marius Borg Høiby and it seems that the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been in serious trouble for much longer than expected.
Marius Borg Høiby was already questioned by the police in autumn 2023
As the Norwegian newspaper “See and Hear” reported, the police questioned the 27-year-old last year. Officials confirmed to the Norwegian newspaper, Borg Høiby 2023 “preventive” to have questioned. Unit leader Frode Larsen explains to the newspaper what the questioning was all about. The investigators had traveled to the royal residence Skaugum, where they confronted Borg Høiby. “The police regularly conduct preventive interviews with people who may be in a criminal environment”the police say.
Apparently, Borg Høiby’s circle of friends was being investigated for drug trafficking. The newspaper also published excerpts from the conversation between Mette-Marit’s son and the police officers. In it, Borg Høiby asserted that his mother and stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon, knew about his friends’ machinations. “My circle of friends has been the same for ten years, and that’s just the way it is. My parents know it and so do my friends, I can’t do anything about it”said the Norwegian Royal.
Alleged drug trafficking among friends
Mette-Marit’s son has been in the headlines for several weeks after he was arrested at the beginning of August. On the night of August 4, Borg Høiby attacked his partner. The accusation: bodily harm. Marius Borg Høiby himself confessed to the crime shortly after the incident. “I committed a and destroyed objects in an apartment”he said, explaining that he had been under the influence of cocaine. The Crown Princess’s son also revealed that he had psychological problems.
