Halsey wants to get married to actor Avan Jogia. The “Lucky” singer and the Canadian didn’t have an easy time at first.
One year after Halsey (29) made her relationship with actor Avan Jogia (32) official, she has announced that she wants to say “I do” at the altar. (formerly Twitter) the “Lucky” singer made her engagement public.
The American reposted a post from an American portal called “Pop Base” that read: “Halsey says she hopes to marry boyfriend Avan Jogia.” The musician corrected this a day later on September 12th with: “***Fiancé Avan Jogia.”
She had already hinted at the news shortly before at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards when the 29-year-old was asked if she and the “Victorious” series hero would get married. The 29-year-old said at the awards ceremony: “I hope so.”
“Avan is the best,” Halsey raved. “He’s one of the greatest things that’s ever happened to me. Every single day I spend with him, I feel like I’m with my best friend.” The Canadian has also built a close bond with her son Ender (3, from a relationship with screenwriter Alev Aydin). “They’re also best friends. They’re inseparable.”
Their love began bumpily
“It was challenging,” the “Without Me” chart-topper previously admitted in a podcast. “When I met my partner, I was a single mother and I thought I was basically on my deathbed.” The singer suffers from the autoimmune disease lupus and a rare lymphoproliferative disorder (an excess of lymphocytes), as she revealed in June. “I thought, I have to explain to this person the reality that I am a single mother and how that is going to change everything. I also have to decide if this is a person I potentially want to have around my child. And then I have to tell him that I am sick.” Jogia was understanding. Halsey has her illnesses “under control” today.
