Axel Schulz sent Regina Halmich a motivating message before her boxing match against Stefan Raab and lashed out at Raab.
Former boxer Axel Schulz (55) has made it clear who he will be rooting for next Saturday (September 14). Former boxer Regina Halmich (47) and entertainer Stefan Raab (57) will be stepping into the boxing ring for the third time. RTL will be showing the boxing match live from Düsseldorf under the title “The Clark Final Fight” (also on RTL+). Schulz has now spoken out in support of his colleague in a video message.
Halmich, in which Schulz addresses her directly, in her Instagram story. “Regina, my boxing goddess. On the 14th it’s finally happening. I hope you break Stefan’s nose, he deserves it,” Schulz says aggressively. He will keep his fingers crossed and sit in front of the TV. “Unfortunately I can’t be there live, but I’ll be in the front row in front of the TV. Best wishes and box your way through.” Halmich commented on the clip with “Thank you” and a heart emoji.
Will the noses stay intact this time?
A few days before the fight, the former professional boxer revealed in an interview with RTL that she at least wants to protect her own nose in the showdown against the TV legend. When asked whether there would be any more broken noses, she replied: “Well, I hope at least that my nose won’t be broken, because I actually had it fixed after my career; it was broken three times. In the first fight I broke Stefan’s nose, so we’re excited to see what goes wrong this time.”
But she has “neither fear nor anxiety,” said Halmich. “But you always go into the ring with a certain amount of respect. When fists hit you, it’s never a walk in the park and it can always happen that a direct hit gets through. In that respect, I think it’s important that you also have respect for this sport.”
Stefan Raab unsuccessfully competed against the former boxing world champion in 2001 and 2007. With the third fight, he is celebrating his TV comeback in front of the camera after his retirement in 2015. She also revealed on Instagram that it will be a special day for Halmich. In a story, she wrote of a photo of her equipment for Saturday: “To be honest, I never thought I would pack my bag for a boxing match again. Like a dream.”
