Stefan Raab is back with the streaming show “You won’t win the million here”. Maybe it will soon be on linear TV.
When Stefan Raab (57) revealed late on Saturday evening (September 14th) that he was celebrating his comeback with the quiz show “Du gewinnst hier nicht die Million”, criticism from fans immediately arose: Why is the entertainer returning to the streaming portal RTL+ after almost ten years of TV abstinence, so that only subscribers can enjoy his new show? His friend Elton (53), who started his career as Raab’s show intern and is also back in the new show, has now reacted to this.
“It’s just an experiment”
The decision had “nothing at all to do with making money”. “There can’t be as many new subscriptions as RTL would earn with a single commercial on linear TV,” he stressed in , shortly before the first edition was launched. He then explained: “It’s simply an experiment and you can simply do a little more on RTL+.” He then suggested that the final word on the matter may not have been spoken yet: “And if it works, then, yes, then maybe it will come to linear TV at some point.” But RTL “unfortunately has no free broadcast slots at the moment”, so the show will start on RTL+ first.
“You won’t win the million here with Stefan Raab” turned out to be a mixture of “TV total” and “Beat Raab” in the premiere. At the beginning there was a comedy intro lasting around half an hour, in which Raab, in his usual manner, took aim at his boxing opponent Regina Halmich (47) and other celebrities. Then the game part begins, in which candidates have the chance to win a million euros. To do so, they have to compete against Raab in quizzes and competitions. The show always runs on Wednesdays from 8:10 p.m.
